Accident on Hisar-Chandigarh highway claims seven lives

Accident in Haryana: A road accident in Jind, Haryana, on the night of Monday to Tuesday claimed at least seven lives. Eight people were injured in the accident. The accident occurred at around 1 am on the Hisar-Chandigarh national highway when a truck rammed a minibus (Tata Magic) from behind. The force of the impact caused the minibus to overturn and fall into a ditch. The minibus carrying devotees was travelling from Kurukshetra, Haryana, to Gogamedi in Rajasthan.

The truck was apparently travelling too fast. The driver fled after the accident. The vehicle was confiscated.

According to ABP sources, 15 people from Mercheri village in Kurukshetra in Haryana were in the minibus and were on their way to Gogamedi Temple. The devotees left their homes on Monday evening. As the minibus was approaching Bidharana village in Narwana, it was hit from behind by a truck loaded with logs on the stretch between Bidharana and Simla village on the Hisar-Chandigarh national highway.

According to the news website News Nation, locals gathered at the scene of the accident but were unable to save anyone due to the pitch darkness. They called the police, who immediately rushed to the scene. Seven ambulances had to be called to the scene to take the injured to hospital.

All the devotees were taken to Narwana Civil Hospital, where doctors found seven dead. After initial treatment, the injured were referred from the Civil Hospital to Agroha Medical College.
