Aamir Khan reveals that the original ending of 'Lagaan' was with Bhuvan stabbing the British officer | Hindi Movie News

Aamir Khan's decision to reject Ashutosh Gowariker's “Lagaan' didn't come immediately. He had serious doubts and struggled to find the courage to commit to the film, and although he thought the script was excellent, he couldn't bring himself to take part.
In an interview with ViralBollywood, Aamir revealed that the film was so unconventional and broke many rules of mainstream cinema that he couldn't imagine any producer who would seriously back it. He even wondered who would be willing to produce such an ambitious project that required traveling to England, casting British actors and having the necessary scale. Ultimately, Aamir decided to produce the film himself, making his debut as a producer.
After some hesitation, Khan encouraged Gowariker to pitch 'Lagaan' to other producers and actors. He also advised him to explore other potential candidates for the project.
He also recalled that during Ashutosh's pitch with other producers and actors, someone suggested changing the climax to have Bhuvan try to stab the British officer, instead of using the film's poetic, game-winning ending. Despite these opinions, few acknowledged the excellence of the script.
'Lagaan' proved to be one of Khan's most successful films and received a Oscar Nomination for best foreign language film.
