DPP office hosts conference on criminal justice system – Malawi Nyasa Times

The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) will host a major conference on criminal justice reform from 8 to 9 October 2024 at the prestigious Bingu wa Mutharika International Convention Centre.

The aim of this momentous event is to bring together stakeholders in a collaborative effort to closely examine the challenges facing Malawi's criminal justice system and develop innovative solutions.

The conference has several noble objectives: identifying gaps in legal frameworks and practices, exploring transformative strategies for reform, promoting meaningful dialogue among stakeholders, and developing actionable recommendations for policy reform.

It covers a wide range of critical issues, including legal and human rights frameworks, pre-trial detention, prison conditions, court systems, alternative dispute resolution and the central role of interest groups and technology.

The conference will also address pressing issues such as corruption, gender-based violence and criminal and judicial reforms. This comprehensive approach will ensure a thorough examination of the criminal justice system and a joint search for solutions.

Scientists, practitioners and stakeholders are cordially invited to submit abstracts by September 6, 2024. Full papers must be submitted after the conference. Selected papers will be considered for publication in a peer-reviewed journal or volume.
