The Apple keynote on September 9th will see the latest versions of Apple's flagship products unveiled, while other rumored products are unlikely to show up. 9to5Mac has taken a closer look at what to expect next week and what we'll see later. According to the report, the tech giant will focus on new iPhone and Apple Watch models first, saving the other products like an all-new Mac mini and AirPods Pro for future announcements.

iPhone 16 series: The main attraction

The focus of the event will undoubtedly be the iPhone 16 series. Apple plans to introduce four new models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The devices will be equipped with the A18 chip and support Apple Intelligence. A notable innovation is a physical button for the camera functions. The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to come with a 6.27-inch and a 6.86-inch display, respectively, making them the largest iPhones to date.

Updates for the Apple Watch

In addition to the iPhones, Apple is also expected to unveil the Apple Watch Series 10, which features a revamped design. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is also expected to be unveiled, albeit with only minor improvements over its predecessor.

New AirPods on the horizon

The event may see the unveiling of new entry-level AirPods, likely two versions of the AirPods 4 that will replace both the current AirPods 2 and AirPods 3.

What is not on the agenda: new M4 Macs

Although Apple has new Macs with the M4 chip in the pipeline, including updated versions of the MacBook Pro, Mac mini and iMac, it's unlikely that these devices will be unveiled at the September event. The new Mac mini is expected to be significantly smaller than its predecessor. The sleek new design, which is said to be inspired by the Apple TV, is said to consistently aim to optimize the desktop Mac's footprint without compromising on features. Apple usually reserves Mac announcements for October.

The next generation of AirPods Pro and the iPhone SE

The AirPods Pro 3, which are rumored to offer health-related features and better noise cancellation, are not expected until next year. We will also not get the iPhone SE 4, which is said to be similar to the iPhone 14 with Face ID and an OLED display, until next year.

HomePods and Vision Pro

Despite ongoing work on HomePods, including a model with an LCD touchscreen, there is no indication of a new September release. Apple is also working on an advanced Vision Pro headset, but it won't launch until late 2025 at the earliest.

iPad mini: 50:50 chance

The September release of an iPad mini 7 is uncertain. With Apple Stores reportedly running low on iPad mini 6 stock, 9to5Mac says there's a 50 percent chance a new model will be announced at the event, possibly along with a new entry-level 11th-generation iPad. However, there's also a chance Apple will unveil the new iPads at the joint Mac event in October.
