Murders in Mexico: Parents of Callum and Jake Robinson give an update on the legacy their sons leave behind

The parents of murdered brothers Callum and Jake Robinson from Perth have established a philanthropic foundation in memory of their sons.

Callum, 32, and Jake, 31, and their friend Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, disappeared in Mexico near Ensenada in Baja California on April 27.

Their bodies were found near their remote campsite a week after their disappearance.

Following the murders, an incredible $350,000 (US$520,000) was raised for the Robinson family, with some of the money going toward establishing a foundation.

This week, Martin and Debra, parents of Callum and Jake, provided an update on the foundation in a Facebook post on the Indian Ocean Paddlers Facebook page.

“Debbie and I would like to thank you for the incredible generosity and support you have shown Callum and Jake Robinson,” they said.

“It has been four months since their tragic deaths at a campsite in Mexico, and not a day goes by that we don’t think about our wonderful sons, the connections they had with people like you, and the lives they could have had.

“We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love we have received in Australia and while we cannot thank you individually, we would like to let you know that the funds raised will be used for various philanthropic activities in honour of Callum and Jake.

“To drive this initiative forward, we have set up a foundation in tribute to Callum and Jake and are run by people who have a lot of experience in caring for others.

“Although it is still early days, we hope to soon have a website available that will provide information on how your valuable donations are being spent.
