Ally McCoist names ‘obvious’ choice for Everton manager and makes prediction for Sean Dyche

Everton have had a terrible start to the season and Sean Dyche's role as manager is already under pressure.

After the first three games of the season, the Toffees are at the bottom of the Premier League table. Southampton is the only other top club that has not yet picked up a point.

Everton capitulated in their recent defeat to Bournemouth after leading 2-0 until the 87th minute. A late run of goals from Antoine Semenyo, Lewis Cook and Luis Sinisterra gave the Cherries a 3-2 victory that surprised Sean Dyche's side and secured them their first points of the season.

The Merseyside club are set to face another relegation battle this season and Dyche is under immense pressure now as the league's first international break approaches.

Everton's management have a decision to make in the coming weeks and Ally McCoist has named the “obvious” successor if they part ways with Dyche.

Who could replace Sean Dyche at Everton?

It would be incredibly harsh to sack Dyche so early in the season after he led the club to safety in the league last season despite two points deductions.

The brutal reality, however, is that he leads the sack race in the Premier League and the trip to Villa Park after the international break is not going to make things any easier.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Ally McCoist said Dyche would succeed at Everton, but named one manager who would be ready to replace him.

“Look, there are always people who go there. The obvious choice for obvious reasons is David Moyes because he is unemployed. That's clear,” McCoist said.

“I think Moyes has done a fantastic job at Everton in the past. But I don't think it's the most attractive job at the moment.

“But to think that people wouldn't accept that is completely wrong. One person who certainly comes into consideration from Everton's point of view is David Moyes.

“But I don't think that's going to happen. I think Sean Dyche will be given time to turn Everton's fortunes around and I believe they'll be fine, I really do.”

David Moyes returns to Everton

After his successful 11-year tenure as Everton head coach, Moyes would be welcomed with open arms at Goodison Park.

He was dropped by West Ham despite leading the Hammers to European glory in 2023, and the Scot more than deserves another job in the top flight.

But Dyche deserves time to turn things around at Everton. He was minutes away from picking up a vital three points against Bournemouth and he should not take all the blame for his side's late collapse.
