Accident in Damoh: 4 dead and 20 injured

In a heartbreaking incident, four people lost their lives and 20 others were injured when a tractor overturned in Damoh. The accident occurred near Fatehpur village in the district on Sunday evening. Two people died at the accident site and two injured died during treatment. According to information, a group of villagers from Ghughash in Pathariya were going to visit Somvati Amavasya Bade Jatashankar Dham in Chhatarpur. The driver lost control of the steering and the tractor overturned while driving on a hilly curve near Fatehpur. The occupants of the tractor were crushed by it. Two women, a teenager and a child lost their lives. The injured were rushed to Hata Hospital by Ambulance 108. Eight injured were admitted to the district hospital in critical condition. According to police, Hemendra Adivasi (10) and Chhoti Bai (45) died at the accident site. Laxman Adivasi (17) and Ganjali Bahu (50) died during treatment. District Hospital Medical Officer Dr Ashutosh Patel said, “The condition of tractor driver Param Lodhi (45), Chittar Rajgound (11), Kalpana (10), Balla Adivasi (12), Kunwar Adivasi (20) and Mamta (40) is critical. Financial assistance has been announced to the families of the dead and the injured. Damoh Collector Sudhir Kochar immediately came to the district hospital after receiving the accident report and enquired about the condition of the injured. He also gave instructions for better treatment. He also announced financial assistance of Rs 25,000 each to the families of the dead and Rs 10,000 to the injured. Lakhan Patel, Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, expressed grief over the accident. On X he wrote: “I am saddened by this tragic incident that occurred in my constituency.”

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the death of devotees in Damoh and ordered to give Rs 200,000 each to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured. He said the untimely death of devotees in an accident was very heartbreaking. The incident occurred when a tractor trolley carrying devotees, which was on its way to Jatashankar Mahadev from Ghugus village in Patharia in Damoh district, overturned. Chief Minister Dr Yadav said that all our condolences go to the bereaved families. Chief Minister Dr Yadav has prayed to Baba Mahakal to give peace to the deceased and strength to the bereaved families to bear this grief. Chief Minister Dr Yadav wished the injured a speedy recovery.
