ODDP statistics show disturbing trend of sexual abuse – FBC News

Prosecutor's statistics on sexual offense charges filed with the Supreme Court last month reveal a disturbing trend of sexual abuse within the family.

A total of 26 people were charged with 70 sexual offenses, including rape, attempted rape and kidnapping with intent to rape, indecent assault and sexual assault.

According to the ODPP, one of the 26 accused was a minor, and the victims included 24 people, 15 of whom were minors.

In 12 cases, the victim and the accused were related.

These include cases in which fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, uncles and cousins ​​​​have been accused of sexually abusing family members.

One of the most shocking cases involved a 40-year-old man who was accused of nine counts of rape of his 8-year-old daughter.

Other gruesome incidents included a 76-year-old man accused of raping his 8-year-old granddaughter and a 56-year-old man accused of triple rape of his 16-year-old granddaughter.

A 17-year-old boy was accused of raping and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.

In another case, a 72-year-old man was charged with two counts of rape of his 17-year-old stepdaughter, but the case was dropped after the defendant's death.

A 35-year-old man was accused of rape and five counts of sexual abuse of his 14-year-old stepdaughter, while a 32-year-old man was accused of two counts of rape of his 12-year-old stepdaughter in another case.

A 56-year-old man was charged with two counts of rape and sexual abuse of his 13-year-old niece, while in another case a 21-year-old man was charged with the rape of his 25-year-old niece.

There was an incident in which a 40-year-old man was charged with two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual battery of his 17-year-old niece.

A 37-year-old man has been charged with three counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault of his 16-year-old niece.

In one case, a 31-year-old man was charged with raping his 29-year-old wife, but the case was dropped after the plaintiff admitted to making a false complaint.

The report also highlights the challenges faced by authorities in pursuing these cases, with eight cases being closed due to insufficient or contradictory evidence, the inability to contact the victims, or other factors.
