Prosecutor questions Ken Lim and says woman had no motive to falsely accuse him of sexual comments

Ms Boppana also told Lim that his claim that the woman had a motive to falsely accuse him was “so unbelievable” that he could not bring himself to explain her motive in his statement to the police. In his statement, he described her claim as “frivolous”.

Lim replied that he had already met his investigating officer several times at the time of recording this statement.

“In my view, his only aim was to bring as many more charges against me as possible in order to create the impression that numbers convey a sense of guilt.

“Whatever I tell him, it wouldn’t make any difference,” Lim said.

Ms Boppana said the defence did not raise this with the investigating officer during his testimony in court and described Lim's claim as “nothing more than an afterthought, a convenient explanation”.

“I tell you, the only reason the victim continued the entire investigation process, put her life on hold and flew back to Singapore to testify about what happened and what you said to her in the parking lot is because everything she said was true,” the prosecutor said.

“I completely disagree,” Lim replied.

The trial will continue on Monday. Lim is represented by counsel Tan Chee Meng, Paul Loy, Calvin Ong and Samuel Navindran of Wong Partnership.

If convicted of insulting a woman's modesty, he faces a prison sentence of up to one year, a fine, or both.
