Man arrested for molesting minors and threatening acid attack in Mumbai

A 38-year-old man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting an underage girl and threatening her with an acid attack in Mumbai's Bhoiwada district, police said on Monday.

The accused, Dashrath Ashok Ramane, is alleged to have repeatedly stalked the 14-year-old girl between August 6 and August 28, often trying to approach her and harass her. On August 28, Ramane is alleged to have stalked the girl, grabbed her hand and threatened her with acid when she resisted.

The girl finally confided in her parents, who confronted Ramane and took him to Bhoiwada police station to file a complaint. A complaint was filed under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Ramane has since been arrested.
