One dead in Meigs County crash | News, Sports, Jobs


POMEROY – A Racine man died Saturday as a result of a crash in Meigs County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

John Stobart, 77, was killed when his 2017 Ford F-150 went off the road on Meigs County 124 west of Meigs County 28, the Gallipolis Post reported.

The truck came off the left side of the road, hit a power pole, a ditch and then

overturned and remained lying on its wheels, the post said.

Stobart was taken by Meigs County EMS to Holzer Emergency Room in Pomeroy and was later

declared dead, the post said.

The accident, which occurred just before 11:30 a.m., is still under investigation, the post said. Meigs County EMS, the Racine Volunteer Fire Department

and the Racine Service Center also responded.
