Man admits to stabbing ex-partner with kitchen knife

A man who threatened to kill his former partner and stabbed her to death with a kitchen knife has been warned that he faces an “inevitable” prison sentence.

Richard Admans, 59, admitted causing bodily harm with intent and threatening to murder when he appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on Monday.

The court heard that Adman's victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries to her abdomen in the attack, which took place in Little London, Spalding, on March 19.

Admans, of Marsh Road, Spalding, was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced on October 4.

“Serious matters”

Jeremy Janes, who argued for Adman's mitigating circumstances, requested that sentencing be adjourned so that a probation report could be prepared.

Mr Janes told the court: “Mr Admans has little recollection of this incident. However, as in his interview, he has always admitted to being the person responsible.”

“He had the two kitchen knives with him and caused the main wound in the victim's abdomen.”

The court also found that the twenty-year relationship had ended “relatively recently.”

Mr Janes added that the attack was out of character for the defendant.

Judge Simon Hirst agreed to the adjournment but warned Admans to prepare for a prison sentence.

“You have pleaded guilty to serious offences,” the judge said, adding: “People who use knives and inflict injuries with knives inevitably receive an immediate prison sentence.”
