Hong Kong police search for evidence after HK0,000 break-in at currency exchange office

Hong Kong police are currently examining surveillance camera footage to gather evidence after more than HK$110,000 (US$28,212) was stolen from a currency exchange office.

Officers arrived at the CHK Exchange store on the second floor of Tai Wo Plaza in Tai Po at around 9:30am on Monday when employees arrived for work and found that the store's main door and a safe had been broken into.

“A preliminary count shows around 100,000 yuan [US$14,096] and several hundred Hong Kong dollars were stolen from the store,” a police spokesman said.

A source familiar with the case said officers were using surveillance cameras to gather evidence to determine the number of burglars involved and their escape route.

The case is being handled by detectives from the Tai Po Criminal Investigation Department.
