Three more men have been arrested after a man was stabbed to death in Stoke-on-Trent.

Thapelo Jali, 21, died on July 22 after being found with serious injuries in an alleyway on Buccleuch Road in Normacot.

Police said they had conducted several searches in the area along with firearms officers as part of the investigation.

Five men accused of Mr Jali's murder are due to appear at Stafford Crown Court on October 11.

On Monday, police said a 35-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent had been arrested on suspicion of murder and a 62-year-old man, also from Stoke-on-Trent, had been arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting the crime.

In addition, a 27-year-old man from the city was arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of murder.

Det Insp Ian Fitzgerald said: “An increased police presence is expected to remain in the area during [Monday] while our investigation continues.”
