Graeme Souness believes nothing has changed at Liverpool under Arne Slot after praising the Dutchman's performance, but believes the Reds will fall behind Arsenal and Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.

Liverpool celebrated a convincing 3-0 victory at Manchester United on Sunday as Slot's perfect start continues. The Reds have won every game so far this season without conceding a single goal.

Mohammed Salah scored for the seventh consecutive game at Old Trafford after setting up a Luis Diaz brace that gave Liverpool a 2-0 half-time lead. The Egyptian has now scored 10 times in his last nine visits to Liverpool's biggest rivals but admitted this season is his “last year at the club”.

The result in Manchester and Liverpool's impressive performance under Slot will have allayed fears that the Reds could struggle after a quiet summer transfer window, and Souness backed up that claim when giving his thoughts on Sunday's win.

“It's a very, very healthy team,” he told talkSPORT. “It's a great job. You don't usually get a job because things are going well. He got a job where things were going well.”

“He's got a group of young players behind him and he's had a good chance to look at the players. I'm sure he's got a budget but why would you want to go to Liverpool and make changes?

“I mean, I'm amazed. Maybe I just don't know anything about football and I hear all these pundits talking about how different it is. I don't see any other Liverpool.

“What I saw yesterday was so impressive because what you have, and Man City fall into the same category, Arsenal fall into the same category. The first thing you overlook is the work ethic.

“It's fine to be clever on the ball and make great passes, but the number one priority is to really put in the work and put in the effort. I can tell you that in my time as a player at Liverpool, the best team at closing down the ball usually wins the league. And if you analyse closing down, it's hard work.

“I saw from my team yesterday a team that worked their asses off, very aggressive, and was overwhelmed by their midfield. Szoboszlai and Gravenberch, I thought they bullied everyone in there and they won at a canter. It could have been a lot worse when you think about the chances. They were very impressive yesterday, but I don't see any other Liverpool.”

When asked if the Reds will win the title, he replied: “The reason I don’t think they will win is because the other two teams [Arsenal and Manchester City] are better than them.”
