Thayngen: Customs arrest two men in stolen van – driver was on drugs

Customs officials arrested two men in Thayngen on Monday evening. According to a statement from the Schaffhausen police, they had entered the Thayngen border crossing in a delivery van at around 10.30 p.m. The delivery van driver, a 32-year-old Czech, was unable to produce a driver's license or vehicle documents. He displayed behavior that suggested he was unfit to drive, the report continued. A saliva test ultimately revealed that the driver was under the influence of amphetamine and methamphetamine.

During the subsequent personal check, customs officials found small amounts of crystal meth on the driver and his passenger, a 41-year-old Czech. In the van, customs officials also found an electric shock device, 3.4 kilograms of euro coins, a tin of jewelry and two goat's feet. It also emerged that the van had been stolen the night before during the war in Bavaria.

The two men and the seized items were handed over to the Schaffhausen police for further investigation. The two men will have to answer to the Schaffhausen public prosecutor's office.
