Everything about Chloe and Poppy Delevingne

Everything about Chloe and Poppy Delevingne

Cara Delevingne and her two older sisters Chloe and Poppy Delevingne were destined to be in the spotlight.

Cara and her sisters grew up in Belgravia, London, and were born to personal shopper Pandora Delevingne and property developer Charles Delevingne. Chloe was born in 1985 and is Pandora's first and Charles' second child. She became an older sister less than a year later when Poppy was born, and again with the birth of Cara in 1992.

Although Cara is several years younger than her sisters, their bond is unmistakable.

“I saw my sisters as the epitome of the woman I wanted to be,” Cara told Sydney Morning Herald in 2022. “There is no doubt in my mind that my sisters would be my best friends, even if we weren't related.”

While the Delevingne sisters said they had a wonderful childhood, their lives were impacted by Pandora's struggle with addiction and bipolar disorder.

“Everyone has something they are going through with their family,” said Cara Harper's Bazaar UK in 2022. “I find my life very stressful because there was quite a lot of chaos and I wasn't sure if people were okay or not.”

From growing up in a noble family to starting a prosecco business together, here's everything you need to know about Cara Delevingne's sisters.

The Delevingne sisters’ maternal grandmother, Jane Sheffield, was a lady-in-waiting to Princess Margaret and married to publisher Sir Jocelyn Stevens, the former owner of the Harper’s Bazaar precursor queen Magazine. Charles is the grandson of politician Hamar Greenwood, 1st Viscount Greenwood.

“I was aware that we were privileged growing up,” Chloe told the Sydney Morning Herald in 2022. “But we never took it for granted.”

The sisters spoke openly about the love and support they received from their parents during their youth.

“We grew up in a beautiful house and were always outside and barefoot and climbing trees,” Poppy told the Sydney Morning Herald“We have two very funny, unconventional parents who taught us who we wanted to be.”

The 11-month age difference between Chloe and Poppy makes them “Irish twins,” a term for biological siblings separated by less than 12 months.

“My older sister Chloe always felt more like a twin,” Poppy told Sydney Morning Herald“As teenagers, we had epic arguments and then epic reconciliations.”

Because of their younger age, Chloe and Poppy were naturally closer than they were during their childhood with Cara.

“We included Cara, but I didn't spend much time with her growing up because of the age difference,” Chloe added. “At 14, you don't have deep conversations with a six-year-old.”

Before the sisters entered the modeling industry, it may have been Poppy who sparked Cara's interest in fashion.

Given the six-year age difference, Poppy was “not overly excited about the idea of having a little sister.” But that changed when she realized how much fun it was to have a younger sibling.

“She was like a doll, my doll basically. I dressed her, cuddled her and played with her,” Poppy told the Sydney Morning Herald“I fell head over heels in love with her.”

Cara publicly came out as pansexual in 2020 after previously coming out as queer, and has since described her sexuality as a “swinging pendulum,” as she shared on the podcast Regency with Josh Smith in 2021. As the only openly queer sibling in her family, Cara said she felt lonely at times, even though Chloe and Poppy tried their best to be there for their youngest sister.

“Growing up as a queer child was isolating and difficult to cope with at times,” Cara told Sydney Morning Herald“My sisters did their best to be there for me, but I had to go through it myself to really know who I was.”

Although Chloe, Poppy and Cara have the same parents, they also have an older half-brother, Alexander Jaffe, from their father's previous relationship.

Alexander's birthday falls on August 12, meaning he shares this special day with his youngest sister Cara. “Happy birthday @caradelevingne love sharing a birthday little sis!” he wrote on Instagram in 2016.

Although Alexander is not in the spotlight as often as his sisters, he is often present at important events. In 2014, he attended Poppy's wedding to James Cook and in 2016, according to his Instagram, he became godfather to Chloe's daughter Juno.

Cara may be the most well-known Delevingne sister, but Poppy was the first of the trio to step into the spotlight, appearing as a karaoke singer in Maroon 5's “Sunday Morning” music video in 2004. At the age of 15, she was discovered by Storm Management, the same agency Cara signed with in 2009.

“Modelling was a scary world,” Poppy told Sydney Morning Herald“I couldn't get a job for ages. I remember my dad saying, 'Hang on, honey – it'll work out.'”

Poppy later walked the runway and collaborated with brands such as Laura Ashley and Burberry before Marc Jacobs made her the face of Louis Vuitton's pre-spring/summer 2012 collection. British Vogue.

Although Poppy and Cara have both worked in the modelling industry, they were never in competition with each other. “Cara's career was very different – she did one or two auditions and that was it,” Poppy said. “There was never any competition between us. I think the six-year age difference saved us as we were never pitted against each other.”

While her sisters were walking the catwalk and appearing in magazines, Chloe was studying biomedical sciences and tumour biology at University College London. Her academic background led her to co-found the Lady Garden Foundation, a charity that raises awareness and funds for gynaecological health, according to its website.

Chloe also trained as a midwife in Aylesbury.

“It's hard but good and very rewarding. They throw you in at the deep end quite early on. I haven't done a delivery yet but have been very involved in observing expectant mothers,” she told Cotswold Life in July 2023. “It's intense but amazing – I think if you can help a woman when she's at her most vulnerable to have the birth she wants then a lot is gained.”

The sisters share a Prosecco brand

The Delevingne sisters launched their vegan prosecco brand Della Vite in 2020. They chose prosecco production because of their shared love of wine, a well-known “ritual” of their sisterhood.

“We have been talking about starting a business together for a long time, but we wanted it to be something meaningful for all three of us that represented us as sisters,” said Cara Wine lovers.

“We wanted to launch a brand that would make people think differently about the Prosecco category,” said Chloe. “A lot of the Proseccos available are not the best quality… so we wanted to help share that and the history of Prosecco with the rest of the world.”

The sisters told the outlet that Della Vite each represents a trait of theirs: Chloe's “dry sense of humor,” Poppy's “bubbly personality” and Cara's “no rules, no strictness” character.

“We want this brand to be for everyone,” Chloe added. “We want it to be inclusive and for the people who drink Della Vite to feel like they're part of our sisterhood.”
