New Delhi, Sept 2 (PTI) – Senior BJP politician Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Monday said strict action must be taken against any criminal act but no one should be allowed to give it a communal tinge and warned against the “cyber conspiracy syndicate that is creating fearmongering over Hindutva”.

His comments follow two incidents of mob violence against Muslims in BJP-ruled Haryana and Maharashtra.

When asked by reporters about the statements made by Congress leaders on the incidents, Naqvi said that those who were “advocating a communal colouring to criminal acts” were deliberately trying to “destroy” the harmony and brotherhood of the country.

The former Minority Affairs Minister said the “cyber conspiracy to create fear of Hindutva and the specter of Islamophobia” was a conspiracy aimed at spreading anarchy in the country.

He said that every criminal act should be dealt with strictly and that the safety and harmony of the society should be paramount, but no one should be allowed to give a communal guise to a criminal act.

On August 27, a Muslim migrant from West Bengal was beaten to death in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, allegedly by cow activists on suspicion of eating beef. Another person was injured in the attack.

In Maharashtra, an elderly man was manhandled and beaten up on suspicion of transporting beef on a train bound for Kalyan. PTI ASK SZM
