Udo Jürgens is still remembered ten years after his death. ARD is therefore planning a big live show and another special for the musician.

Dortmund – With his hits such as “Greek Wine”, “The Sun Always Rises” and “I’ve Never Been to New York”, Udo Jürgens has made himself immortal. Reason enough for the ARD to change its program on the occasion of a double anniversary and to remember the Austrian musician.

There are always major or minor changes in the ARD TV program. In September, viewers will be able to look forward to two more. The focus is on pop singer Udo Jürgens: there will be two different programs in his honor.

Over 105 million records sold worldwide and more than 1,000 songs composed make Udo Jürgens a legend. This year there are two anniversaries that his family, friends and fans will surely remember.

Jürgens would have turned 90 on September 30th. In addition, December 21st marks the tenth anniversary of his death. ARD viewers will be treated to a big live show and previously unreleased recordings on his birthday.

Change in the TV program: ARD shows special for pop legend Udo Jürgens

“Udo Jürgens Forever” is the name of the TV show planned for ARD to mark his 90th birthday. Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) confirmed this in a press release.

Viewers are promised a “unique tribute show” with Michelle Hunziker and singer Sasha as presenters. ARD is even making the coveted prime time slot from 8:15 p.m. available for Udo Jürgens. A few weeks earlier, a special for musician Peter Maffay will be broadcast on TV.

In the show, “well-known stars from the music scene will interpret the biggest hits,” confirms BR in the press release. Exactly which artists these are and which songs by the pop star will be sung have not yet been confirmed. During the format “Udo Jürgens Forever. The show for his 90th birthday” there will also be a big premiere with the previously unreleased song “Als ich fortging”.

In the ARD show in honor of Udo Jürgens, there will not only be something to hear, but also something to see: “Excerpts from performances, interviews and previously unpublished private recordings” will be presented to the viewers. For pop legend Udo Jürgens: ARD changes TV program in September

Following the big show, the program “UDO!” will be broadcast on ARD TV. This is a mixture of artist portrait and psychogram. For a total of one hour, viewers will get an insight into the person “Udo Jürgens and his long journey to himself”.

The show gives the domestic TV audience “exclusive access to the family archive” as well as “unpublished image and audio material”. Jenny and John, Udo Jürgens' children, as well as “closest friends and confidants” have their say. The dark side of Udo Jürgens' musical life is not neglected either.
