Macy's recently announced “bold new chapter” apparently does not include the Northlake Mall location, which will close its doors next year.

The announcement, first published in Tomorrow's News Today, said the store is expected to cease operations in early 2025.

Other traditional Macy's malls in the Atlanta area – including Lenox Square in Buckhead, North Point Mall in Alpharetta, Town Center at Cobb in Kennesaw, Mall of Georgia in Buford, Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth, Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody and The Mall at Stonecrest in Lithonia – appear to be on the verge of extinction.

The “Bold New Chapter” concept, announced by Macy's in February, describes a new approach to increasing sales that includes a greater focus on digital sales, closing 150 under-producing stores and expanding its small stores. At the time of Macy's announcement, the exact locations of the soon-to-be-closed stores had not been disclosed.

Plans also include expanding Bloomingdale's and Bluemercury locations over the next three years and modernizing and streamlining operations.

There is a Bloomingdale's at Lenox Square and Bluemercury at Buckhead Market Place.

In January, the company announced that it would close five of its locations of the same name and lay off about 3.5 percent of its workforce.
