Nick Saban winces as Pat McAfee dances in his seat on ESPN's “College GameDay”

On Saturday, footage emerged of an awkward moment between Nick Saban and Pat McAfee on the set of ESPN's “College GameDay.”

The footage, apparently shot on a cellphone, shows McAfee dancing in his seat and snapping his fingers as music blared. Saban sat motionless in his seat with his hands folded, casting sheepish glances at his colleague.

Saban smacked his lips repeatedly, occasionally looking down and away as McAfee danced just inches away.

One X-user wrote in response: “Saban looks like the driver at a club while Pat had a few too many Tequila Sunrises or Vodka Cranberries.”

Both were criticized for their behavior.

One user wrote: “Saban has no place on College Game Day. He's a killjoy. Too dry. Too serious for Saturday morning!”

Another user wrote: “The guy on the left needs to grow up a bit.”

The two hosts have taken very different paths to their respective spots on the show. Saban, who is in his first full season on the show, was one of the winningest head coaches in college football history during his 17-year tenure as Alabama's coach from 2007 to 2023. He won six national titles as coach of the Crimson Tide and a seventh with LSU in 2003.

McAfee's football background dates back to his time as a punter for the Indianapolis Colts from 2009 to 2016. He was selected to the All-Pro team in 2014.

McAfee became a full-time host on “College GameDay” in 2022. McAfee launched his own podcast, “The Pat McAfee Show,” which premiered on September 9, 2019. His show aired on Westwood One, Barstool Sports and Sirius XM before moving to ESPN in September 2022.

McAfee's show on ESPN was marked by several unfiltered controversial moments, including when he used a curse word to describe WNBA rookie sensation Caitlin Clark. He excluded NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers from his weekly appearances after Rodgers suggested that ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel might be on a list of Jeffrey Epstein confidantes.

Now Saban and McAfee will be a team every Saturday during the college football season for the foreseeable future.
