Tragic accident in the Dominican Republic leaves 11 dead and 30 injured

In a tragic incident, at least 11 people were killed and more than 30 injured when a truck crashed into a bar in Azua, a municipality in the south of the Dominican Republic, early Sunday morning.

The news was confirmed to the Associated Press by Civil Protection Director Juan Salas. The accident occurred in the early hours of the morning and one of the victims was said to be a police sergeant.

Authorities are currently reviewing camera footage to determine the cause of the accident. The truck driver fled the scene and is still at large, while a passenger was arrested. The victims were taken to a nearby hospital, but their current condition is unknown.
