The teenager died shortly after the attack on a property in Oldbury, West Midlands.

It is assumed that he was at home at the time of the stabbing.

Bouquets of flowers, stuffed animals and candles were left in front of the address in memory of the boy.

His identity has not yet been confirmed.

Now West Midlands Police have confirmed that two suspects, also two teenagers, have been taken into custody.

A police spokesman said the arrest was made “for the murder of a 13-year-old boy.”

They added: “Two boys were arrested today in connection with Thursday's fatal stabbing on Lovett Avenue.”

“They were taken into police custody for questioning.

“The family of the deceased 13-year-old boy has been informed of the developments in our investigation.

“Our thoughts are with them during this devastating time.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service added: “We were called to a stabbing at a private address in Lovett Avenue shortly after 4pm on Thursday.”

“An ambulance, two paramedics, the WMAS Critical Care Car, a MERIT trauma doctor and intensive care paramedic and a BASICS emergency doctor were on scene.

“When we arrived, we found a teenager with life-threatening injuries.

“Emergency medical personnel provided advanced trauma care at the scene, but unfortunately, despite all efforts, nothing more could be done to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.”

This is a developing story. More information will be added as it becomes available.
