Jasmine Crockett claims Harris will be the ‘adult’ and Trump the ‘whining child’ in ABC News debate

WASHINGTON, DC: Rep. Jasmine Crockett has made a prediction about how former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris will fare in the upcoming ABC News debate.

The Democratic congresswoman from Texas told host Alex Witt during her appearance on MSNBC on Saturday, August 31, that the Republican candidate would act like a “whining child” while Harris would be the “adult in the room,” according to Mediaite.

Previous reports suggested that the Democratic White House contender wanted to keep calm and get under her opponent's skin by pointing the finger at the mistakes he made during his tenure in the Oval Office.

“So what’s behind the Harris strategy in this matter?” Alex Witt asked Jasmine Crockett.

“I think they [Harris] wants to seem like she's the adult in the room,” she replied.

“What we're going to see is this whiny child sitting there not giving straight answers and, quite frankly, distracting and acting like a jerk,” the congressman continued of Trump.

Crockett added that the former president's behavior was already evident during the campaign when he complained about sharks. “The guy is really weird and crazy,” she added.

Crockett further noted that Harris' strategy will be two-pronged. First, she will “assure the American people that she understands the issues and remind them why we kicked him out in the first place.” Second, the vice president will “remind them why we don't want to go back.”

The first meeting between Trump and Harris on ABC News is scheduled for September 10 and will be moderated by David Muir and Linsey Davis.

In June, the 45th president debated President Joe Biden on CNN, which ultimately led to Biden's withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race due to his lackluster performance.

Internet reacts to Jasmine Crockett's prediction for the ABC debate

Internet users had mixed reactions to Jasmine Crockett's claim about how the major party candidates would behave at the debate. While one group felt Trump was whining, some individuals claimed that Democrats should not lower their standards.

“One thing is for sure, no matter how bad he does, his cult will say he won. You bet on it,” one user commented on Mediaite's article.

“Trump is already whining and the debate hasn't even happened yet,” added another.

“That’s not a particularly unlikely prediction,” said a third user.

“Simplest prediction ever. The felon will act like a spoiled high school student because the uneducated hillbillies are at that level,” was a fourth response.

“Democrats shouldn't lower the bar for this guy. The more they say he whines and has a meltdown or throws a tantrum, the easier it is for MAGA and even the mainstream media to let less than good behavior slide,” another wrote.

“Isn’t that the same thing you idiots said about President Trump and the village idiot Biden?” someone asked.

“She's desperately looking for an excuse to get out of there,” another added.
