Salford vs MK Dons Predictions

Despite signing a number of big names this summer, Salford are still waiting for their first win of the League Two season, having picked up just one point from their first possible twelve.

New signings Cole Stockton and Ben Woodburn are still finding their feet and manager Karl Robinson, whose Ammies win rate since his appointment in January is now a modest 26.9 per cent, could come under pressure if his side fail to beat MK Dons on Monday night.

Like their hosts, the Dons have had a difficult start to the season. League defeats to Bradford and Colchester were interspersed with a heavy 5-0 League Cup defeat to Championship club Watford, but things seemed to be going better for Mike Williamson's side last time out as they beat Carlisle 3-0.

After losing to Crawley in the play-off semi-finals last season, many pundits expected Milton Keynes to challenge for the League Two title this time around, but a slow start dampened enthusiasm.

However, a win at the Peninsula Stadium on Monday could restore confidence to the Dons' ante-post supporters.

The visitors' past and current form also speak in their favour. Last season they beat the Ammies twice, scoring seven goals. Salford, on the other hand, have won just one of their last ten home games and have lost their three home games this season without scoring a goal.

The Ammies have lost seven of their last 11 games and have given little indication this season that that record is about to improve. A point at Chesterfield could be seen as a step in the right direction but they were lucky to share the spoils with the Spireites, losing shots on goal 15-6 and corners 9-1 and could suffer another setback against the improving Dons.

Defender Curtis Tilt was sent off in the stalemate and his replacement, the ageing James Chester, will struggle to contain MK Dons' lively striker Callum Hendry.

Hendry, who scored nine goals in 27 League Two games for Salford last season, has had two shots on goal in each of his league games this season and could have the momentum to hurt his former employers after his goal against Carlisle last weekend.

Important statistics

Salford have lost seven of their last eleven games and five of their last six home games.
