The interim government stationed two Bangladesh Border Guard platoons on the premises of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) to ensure the safety of doctors.

A press release on this issue was issued on Sunday, signed by Md Shariful Islam, the PR officer of the BGB headquarters.

The BGB trains were deployed a day after doctors were attacked by relatives of a patient at the DMCH because they were accused of mistreating them in the hospital's emergency room.

Medical services at private and public hospitals across the country, including Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), have been disrupted as doctors went on strike to protest against the attacks on medical workers.

On Saturday, three doctors from the neurosurgery department at DMCH were attacked. After the attack, the doctors issued an ultimatum demanding the arrest of those responsible within 24 hours. However, the doctors decided to go on strike before the deadline to express their frustration and concern for their safety.

Four people involved in the attack were arrested and handed over to army personnel, said Bachu Mia, head of the DMCH police outpost.

At the same time, a patient who had taken poison was declared dead by the doctors in the emergency room. The patient's relatives then ransacked the emergency room.
