He said that the villagers and the district magistrate suspected a wolf attack, but this had not yet been confirmed by the forest department.

Both injured people are being treated in hospital and their condition is considered out of danger.

Sushil said that out of a pack of six wolves, four had already been captured by the forest team.

“Wolves are being tracked with the help of drones by setting up traps and cages near the wolf dens near Kulela village in Mahsi tehsil. On Saturday, two wolves were spotted using thermal imaging. But due to the late night, the teams of 'Operation Bhedia' could not catch them.

The attacking animals are expected to be caught in a day or two,” he added.

Departmental forest officer Ajit Pratap Singh said that Operation Bhedia is currently underway in the district and the wolves are changing their locations, making it difficult to capture them.
