Morena, Sept 1 (PTI) – Three police officers have been suspended after a murder accused was found hanging in a police station lock-up in Morena district of India's Madhya Pradesh state on Sunday morning, officials said.

The senior citizens were alerted after the body of Balkrishna Jatav alias Sunny was found hanging from a cloth attached to a window inside the jail at Civil Lines police station around 5.30 am, Sub-District Magistrate Bhupendra Singh Kushwaha told PTI.

However, Sunny's family disputed the timing of his arrest, claiming that he was taken into custody four days ago.

After visiting the accident site, Police Commissioner Sameer Saurabh suspended Superintendent of Police and Inspector Rambabu Yadav, a Superintendent of Police and a constable in the case of death while in the custody of the Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police Arvind Thakur said.

According to ASP, at first glance it appears that Sunny died by suicide.
