Drama in the title fight: Decision in the last corner

Dramatic championship decision in Formula 3: Italian Leonardo Fornaroli snatched the title from his compatriot Gabriele Mini in the last corner of the last race of the season. The 19-year-old Trident driver took third place in Monza just a few hundred metres before the finish and defended his overall lead by a whisker, ahead of Mini (Prema), who came second, by just two points. The victory went to Frenchman Sami Meguetounif (Trident).

“I can’t believe it,” said Fornaroli, who secured the title without a win but with enormous consistency and seven podium places: “The goal is to drive in Formula 2 next year. Nothing is set in stone yet, but there is a good chance.”

The hamburger Tim Tramnitz (MP Motorsport) One day after his first victory in the sprint race, he finished seventh this time. The Red Bull junior has four podium places and a total of nine in his debut season. The Munich-based Sophia Flörsch (Van Amersfoort Racing) Retired in a collision early in the 22-lap main race and finished the season without a point.
