Knife attacker's murder weapon sought – asylum application rejected in June

ASCHAFFENBURG. According to police, the asylum application of the Afghan who stabbed two fellow countrymen in Aschaffenburg on Friday was rejected in June. However, he was able to remain in Germany because a deportation ban for Afghanistan was still in effect at the time. After the knife attack, the police are still looking for the murder weapon. The 26-year-old suddenly attacked two 18- and 21-year-old acquaintances and injured them in the face and arm. Thanks to many witnesses and his conspicuous clothing with a long wool shirt, the police were able to arrest him shortly afterwards. He apparently threw the knife away as he fled to the raft harbor, and a police dog subsequently searched for it in vain.
