Man dies in stabbing after knife attack at Forest Gate restaurant

Almost three weeks after the stabbing in Forest Gate in east London, a man died in hospital.

Police have launched a murder investigation following a knife attack at a restaurant on Romford Road on August 10 and a further incident later the same day in which a man was found with injuries on Sprowston Road.

A suspected male victim, now identified as Saley Beya, was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.

The Metropolitan Police released a statement on Sunday saying: “A 28-year-old man has appeared in court charged with Section 18 grievous bodily harm.

“We will now work with the prosecution to change the charges.”

Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen said: “We continue to need people to come forward and tell us what they know about this tragic incident.

“Our investigation has revealed that there was a lot of traffic on Romford Road, including two buses, and people would have seen these events unfold. In addition, a car had to stop on the road when the attack took place.

“I urge anyone who saw this incident or who took pictures or footage of the attack to come forward immediately.”

The criminal investigation department continues to appeal for witnesses and information regarding the incident.
