NW Harris County woman missing for several days found shot to death

Residents of a neighborhood in northwest Harris County are shocked after a woman was found with numerous gunshot wounds on Friday.

Investigators said her boyfriend made the discovery after the woman had not been seen for several days.

Most people in the Hearthstone community are retired and everyone knows everyone, so when they heard about a murder, they couldn't believe it.

“I don't think there have been any murders in this neighborhood. But it's a small community. Everyone knows everyone. Everyone cares about everyone. It's just tragic,” said Matt Peveto, a resident.

Police spent several hours collecting evidence and taking photographs of the house on Beechmoor Drive where the woman was found.

Investigators said she was in her 40s and was killed by a gunshot. Her identity has not been released and her family asked for privacy.

Sergeant Miller said the victim's boyfriend made the discovery.

“She had apparently not been seen for a few days. The boyfriend had come by to check on her. When he got here, he found that the door had been kicked in and broken open, and then he found her in the house.”

A local resident said the area had always been peaceful.

“This is primarily a retirement community. There's a country club a few blocks from this street and it's just a very quiet neighborhood. You don't really hear about incidents like this around here. So, you know, it's very tragic and definitely concerning for the residents and for me and my family here.”

Investigators are searching the area for videos and talking to residents.
