Trip takes a tragic turn: 15-year-old drowns at Pecah Batu waterfall

IPOH, Sept 1 – The joy of a group of teenagers on a trip to Pecah Batu Waterfall near Trong turned into tragedy this afternoon when one of them drowned.

Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, deputy director of the operations department of the Perak Fire and Rescue Station (JBPM), said the victim was identified as 15-year-old Muhammad Aqif Mikhail Ali Arafat.

He said an emergency call was received at 5.25pm ​​and five minutes later six Trong Fire and Rescue Station personnel arrived at the scene.

“The victim had already been pulled out of the water by citizens before the rescue team arrived. They tried to revive the boy with CPR, but there was no response,” he said in a statement this evening.

Sabarodzi said a health ministry doctor pronounced the boy dead at the scene. — Bernama
