Waterford Twp. man in court for alleged sexual abuse of four boys

A Waterford Township man was arraigned Friday on charges he sexually abused four boys and stored videos and photos of the child sexual abuse on his phone.

Waterford Police detectives arrested 21-year-old Logan Joseph Sutherland at his home on Tuesday after a complaint was filed against him for sexually abusing a 10-year-old boy, according to a police news release on Friday.

Sutherland spent time alone with the boy between 30 and 40 times between 2021 and 2023, police said.

According to the press release, detectives seized Sutherland's phone and found still images and videos of naked young boys during his arrest.

Sutherland was charged in 51st District Court with four counts of second-degree sexual abuse and two counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, the press release said.

District Judge Richard Kuhn set bail at $100,000, payable only in cash or surety, and scheduled a probation hearing for September 10.

Online court records list an unnamed public defender as representing Sutherland.

After Sutherland's arrest, three more victims came forward alleging he attacked them at his home, at a ZapZone arcade and a Sportway go-kart track in Waterford, and at a SkyZone in Commerce Township, police said.

The victims were 7, 11 and 13 years old, the press release said.

Sutherland allegedly befriended the boys' parents and gained their trust in order to spend time alone with the children and sexually abuse them, the press release states. The photos on Sutherland's phone show several young boys in addition to the four victims, whose identities police have not yet released.

Investigators are asking anyone whose children may have been with Sutherland, or who knows children he spent time with, to contact Detective Rachel White at 248-618-6122.
