Troy Deeney says he will 'get in trouble' over his Liverpool vs Man United score prediction

With the transfer window now closed, Liverpool can concentrate on the pitch again.

Overall, the summer was disappointing for the Reds, with many fans feeling that they had not sufficiently addressed weaknesses in defence and midfield.

Nevertheless, Liverpool have started well under Arne Slot. The Reds have won two of two games and have not conceded a goal in either match.

As for Ipswich and Brentford, Slots faces the biggest test of his Liverpool career so far on Sunday when Liverpool travel to Old Trafford.

Man United vs Liverpool is one of the most important games of the Premier League season and the fact that both teams are now coached by Dutch managers adds an extra spice to the match.

Troy Deeney predicts Man United vs Liverpool

With the end of the transfer window distracting the football world, this Sunday's game may not have had quite the excitement it normally would have.

Nevertheless, several experts have already spoken out with their predictions.

Paul Merson believes Man United will enjoy taking on Liverpool, while former Reds midfielder Danny Murphy has predicted a win for Slot's team.

The latest signing to provide insight is former Watford striker Troy Deeney.

Deeney gave his predictions for the Premier League weekend on TikTok, claiming his assessment of the game at Old Trafford could potentially be controversial.

“The biggest game of the weekend,” says the expert. “I think the way Liverpool started, they've hit the ground running. Salah is in the running, Van Dijk looks like a Rolls-Royce as always, and Trent has hit the ground running too, Jota looks like the number nine.

“But nonetheless, it is a perfect game for Man U because they are playing at home, staying behind the ball and can launch counterattacks.

“I think I'm going to get in trouble for that, I think Liverpool will definitely give them a run for their money,” predicts Deeney. “They're so quick, but Man U look more structurally solid. I'm predicting 3-1 to Liverpool.”

Liverpool team news ahead of Man United match

With all eyes on Liverpool's slow transfer window, it will be nice to get back to the seriousness of the situation this weekend.

Slot's squad is now officially set until the market opens in January and with Federico Chiesa added to the squad this week, Liverpool have plenty of firepower.

Slot has confirmed that Chiesa is unlikely to play against United, although the Italian looked strong in his first training session with the Reds on Friday.

Another player who will not be involved is Curtis Jones. Jones is still injured after missing last week's win over Brentford and the 23-year-old will not be in the squad at Old Trafford.

Apart from Jones and possibly Chiesa, Liverpool have a full squad available according to the latest information. Let's hope Deeney is right about that.
