Roglic postpones his attack on O'Connor on Sunday

Top favorite Primoz Roglic is still 1:21 minutes behind leader Ben O'Connor at the Vuelta. However, that should change on Sunday.

The most important things in brief

  • The 14th stage of the Vuelta brings no significant changes in the classification.
  • Ben O'Connor defends the red jersey of the overall leader ahead of Primoz Roglic.
  • The Slovenian is holding back – his attack is likely to take place on Sunday.

Ben O'Connor remains in the red jersey at the Vuelta. The Australian was not attacked by Primoz Roglic as the climax of the final climb of the 14th stage of the Tour of Spain was looming just 20 kilometers from the finish.

Will you succeed in the Vuelta?

On the descent to the finish, the Slovenian even got into trouble for a short time. Roglic suffered a flat tire and had to catch up with a teammate on his racing bike. But the top favorite ultimately managed to do so without any problems.

The majority of the field stayed together on the 200 km section from Villafranco del Bierzo to Villablino. The mass sprint was won by Australian Kaden Groves ahead of Wout van Aert. Groves had already won the second stage, while Van Aert missed out on the fourth stage win.

In the overall ranking of the Vuelta, O'Connor remains 1:21 minutes ahead of Roglic. However, this is likely to change at the very extensive mountain finish on Sunday at Cuitu Negru. The climb in the “Especial” category is up to 24 percent. Two passes in the first category are already on the program beforehand.
