Shooting leaves two dead on Phoenix street

Two men died Friday at a supermarket near 1700 West Van Buren Street, Phoenix police said.

Officers arrived at the shooting at around 12:30 a.m. on August 30 and found Jesus Erlandson-Gonzales Junior, 22, and Andres Wilkes, 20, suffering from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The homicide squad took over the investigation and stated that, according to initial information, Erlandson-Gonzales Junior had started an argument with Wilkes, which escalated into a shootout in which both men were hit.

Further details are still part of the ongoing investigation, police said.
