Police: Clairton woman hit by vehicle fleeing scene after firing errant shots

A woman in Clairton was hit early Saturday by a fleeing driver who had fired shots while fleeing.

Allegheny County police said local police were called to the intersection of Third Street and Waddell Avenue around 2:20 a.m.

They had received a report “of a disturbance, followed by gunshots and a dead man.”

The police encountered a large crowd of people and a woman who had been hit by a car.

The victim, whose identity was not established by the district police, was hospitalized in stable condition.

County detectives said their preliminary information suggests that after the shooting, a fleeing vehicle struck the victim and left the scene.

Police believe no one was hit by the shots.
