Texas Longhorns vs. Colorado State Betting Guide

Texas Longhorns vs. Colorado State Betting Guide

After months of anticipation, college football is finally back. The Texas Longhorns will kick off their 2024 season on August 31 against Colorado State. After a 12-win season, the Longhorns are eager to build on their success and show that their revamped offense is not to be underestimated.

The Longhorns are led by Quinn Ewers, who is coming off one of the best seasons of his college career. During the 2023 season, Ewers added 3,479 yards and 22 passing touchdowns to his resume. He also completed 69 percent of his passes and nearly led the Longhorns to a national championship.

The Rams are looking to shock the college football world and they'll be led by Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi. Last year, Nicolosi played in a career-high 12 games and threw for 3,460 yards. If he can control the football and put the Rams in a position to score, the game could be closer than expected.

Regardless of the outcome, this game should provide plenty of fireworks. After months of preparation, the Longhorns and Rams are eager to start the season strong and get a win.

As the Longhorns look to start their season with a convincing win, they need Ewers at his best. After an offseason filled with changes, Ewers has a wealth of new weapons, including Ryan Wingo, Matthew Golden and Amari Niblack. The talented trio has the potential to put up huge numbers and have a favorable matchup with the Rams. If Ewers and his receiver core can build on the work they've done this spring, it's going to be a long day for Colorado State.

Like last season, Horton is the Rams' most dangerous offensive player. He's coming off the 2023 season where he added 96 catches and 1,136 receiving yards to his resume. As Colorado State looks to pressure the Longhorns' offense, Horton will be called upon frequently. If the Longhorns can shut down Horton, Colorado State will have a hard time scoring points.

Take the Longhorns and the over in this game. While Colorado State has some experienced players on defense, they are no match for them on offense in terms of talent. The Longhorns added dynamic talent in the offseason, making them a tough team to stop. This game is an ideal matchup for Texas to start the season strong and make a good first impression in their new league.

Result prediction: Texas 45, Colorado State 10
