New defendants may emerge in the case of substandard bulletproof vests for the Russian Federation Armed Forces

New details have emerged from the investigation into the criminal case concerning the supply of substandard body armor to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

As the RIA Novosti news agency reports, citing the materials of the criminal case, new defendants may appear in it. The investigation does not consider its work to be complete.

“Not all witnesses and other members of the organized group were identified and interviewed,” the statement said.

As a reminder, in early May, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested the heads of LLC GC “Picket”, who are suspected of embezzling funds from the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The CEO of the company Andrei EsipovFinance Director Victoria Antonova and head of security Mikhail Kalchenko were taken into custody.

All of them are accused of fraud on a large scale. The previous evening, the pre-trial detention of these three defendants was extended until December 3.

According to the investigation, employees of the Picket Group embezzled at least 2.4 billion rubles allocated to them by the Ministry of Defense under a state contract for the supply of protective equipment. The company supplied the army with at least 20,040 bulletproof vests that do not meet accepted standards.

As EADaily According to investigators, the funds stolen from the Ministry of Defense during the implementation of the state contract were invested by the defendants in the case in the purchase of land plots in Balashikha.
