Child in serious condition after car crash in western Sydney

A four-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in western Sydney this afternoon.

Just before 3pm, emergency services were called to Blacktown Olympic Avenue in Rooty Hill following reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a car.

Paramedics treated the four-year-old at the scene before he was taken to Westmead Children's Hospital in serious condition.

The 53-year-old driver was taken to hospital for mandatory tests.

The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
