Road rage incident leads to stabbing in DeKalb, witness tells police

DEKALB, Ill. (WIFR) – A DeKalb man is accused of nearly hitting someone with his car and then stabbing him in the chest.

Romal Jenkins, 45, is charged with attempted premeditated murder, aggravated assault causing serious injury, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and trespassing.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on August 2 in the 700 block of Annie Glidden Road.

According to police reports, a witness told officers that Jenkins nearly struck a man with his vehicle as he pulled out of a residential parking lot. Jenkins and the man reportedly then got into an argument that turned physical and resulted in Jenkins stabbing the victim.

DeKalb police said the victim was bleeding from his chest when he was discovered and was being treated for a life-threatening lung injury.

Investigators said they were able to arrest Jenkins after the witness identified him through a photo lineup.

Jenkins is scheduled to appear in court on September 5.
