New Jersey man stabbed his brother in the chest, killing him, authorities say

A Burlington County man has been charged with stabbing his brother to death last week following an argument at a family home, Burlington County District Attorney LaChia L. Bradshaw announced Friday.

Carl Agyemang, 26, of Willingboro was charged with first-degree murder and weapons offenses after prosecutors said he stabbed his 23-year-old brother in the chest following an argument on August 24.

Authorities responded to a report of a stabbing around 11:15 a.m. and arrived at a residence in the first block of Hepburn Lane in Willingboro. There they found Agyemang's brother Floyd with a stab wound to the chest, officials said.

Floyd Agyemang was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden and pronounced dead that evening, authorities said.

Agyemang initially fled the scene on foot, but was tracked down by police a short time later, officials said. Authorities said a knife was found in Agyemang's possession that was believed to have been used in the fatal attack.

Authorities did not provide further details of the investigation on Friday.

Agyemang is being held in the Burlington County Jail awaiting a detention hearing. Prosecutors said the case will be presented to a grand jury.

A lawyer for Agyemang could not be reached for comment on Friday.
