Members of the Indian community in Christchurch organised a peaceful protest to express their solidarity with the victims of the recent incidents in Kolkata.

“When I think about the tragic crime at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, I am deeply moved by the loss and impact it has had on our community. This brutal act underscores the urgent need for justice and the importance of standing together against violence,” said Bhaswati Ghosh, one of the organizers.

Our vigil was a powerful demonstration of our collective strength and unity. It was encouraging to see people from all walks of life come together in a silent protest. It showed that our commitment to justice and humanity goes beyond our differences. This solidarity reaffirms our commitment to fighting violence and preserving human dignity.

By standing with the victim's family, we honor their memory and send a strong message that such brutality will not be tolerated and call us all to work towards a safer, fairer society where everyone can live without fear.

Speakers at the rally included Dr. Krishna Badami and Shirish Paranjape.
