BREAKING NEWS: Police again summon Nigerian Labour Congress President Ajaero, Secretary General Ugboaja for alleged intimidation and other

The Nigerian Police have again invited the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero.

In addition, the police also summoned the union’s Secretary General, Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja, for questioning over alleged “criminal intimidation, malicious damage to property and conduct likely to disturb public peace.”

The police invitation from the Office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja, dated August 28, 2024, signed by the Commissioner of Police (OPS), CP Ibitoye Rufus Alajide, was addressed to Ajaero.

The invitation, seen by SaharaReporters on Friday, said Ajaero's name had surfaced in police investigations into alleged criminal intimidation, probable disturbance of public peace and malicious damage to property.

It read: “In support of the investigation into alleged criminal intimidation, probable public disturbance and intentional damage to property on which your name appears.”

“You are requested to report to Room 12, SPO, 2nd Floor, Force Intelligence Department (FID) Complex, Shehu Hagari Way, Opposite Police Headquarters, Area 11, Garki, Abuja on Thursday, 5th September 2024 at 11am alongside Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja or for an interview with the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID) by the undersigned.

“Upon arrival you can call Mr. Usman on GSM number 08039659139.

“We urgently request your cooperation in this regard.”

Ajaero had previously been summoned by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), on charges of “criminal conspiracy, terrorist financing, treason, subversion and cybercrime.”
