UPDATE: Teenager charged after fatal stabbing

Detectives have charged a teenager following a fatal stabbing in Newham.

The 16-year-old boy from Newham was charged with the murder of Imran Maroof on Friday, August 30.

He appeared before Bexley Magistrates' Court and is expected to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday 3 September.

Police were called at 7.38pm on Saturday 27 July to a report of a fight in Plashet Park, E7.

The officers arrived and found 20-year-old Imran with stab wounds. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he unfortunately died at the scene.

His family continues to receive support from professional officials.

The investigation is being carried out by detectives from the Specialist Crime Command.
