Technician arrested for alleged sexual harassment at Gurugram hotel

A 32-year-old technician was arrested for allegedly sexually harassing an employee of a US company in a hotel in Gurugram, police said on Friday.

The accused is said to have entered the woman's hotel room while drunk. A complaint has been filed against him at the Sector 29 police station, it was said.

A senior official confirmed that the accused was working on a joint venture project on behalf of his company. He was released on bail after participating in the investigation.

The woman, a 27-year-old resident of Noida, was at the hotel on Wednesday for a business meeting. Most of the participants were staying overnight at the hotel, the official added.

According to her complaint, the defendant, a customer of her company, entered her room drunk at around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday morning.

Hotel security escorted the man away and the police were notified.

Police filed a complaint under Section 75 (sexual harassment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Sector 29 police station on Thursday and arrested the accused.

“The accused was released on bail after joining the investigation. Further investigation is underway,” said Ravi Kumar, SHO of Sector 29.
