Montreal police investigate stabbing in Sud-Ouest involving a driver and a pedestrian

A driver stabbed a pedestrian in the Sud-Ouest borough on Thursday morning, Montreal police said.

A spokesman for the Montreal Police Department (SPVM) said the stabbing occurred around 10 a.m. on Atwater Avenue near the Lionel-Groulx metro station.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a man in his 60s with injuries to his upper body. They said the incident appeared to be the result of a conflict between a driver and a pedestrian.

The suspect, the driver, fled the scene before police arrived.

He was taken to hospital but was conscious and is not believed to be in critical condition.

The police have not yet arrested anyone, but have set up a exclusion zone in the area and are investigating.
