Former Gilman School teacher convicted of sexually abusing and cyberstalking boy in Maryland: federal authorities

Christopher Kenji BendanThe 40-year-old faces decades in prison for the sexual exploitation of a minor that lasted over a year.

According to prosecutors, between September 2017 and February 2019, Bendann produced several videos of a teenager depicting sexually explicit acts that were stored in his iCloud.

The teenagers were 16 and 17 years old at the time.

Between May and December 2022, prosecutors said, Bendann stalked the same victim online by sending messages to his phone demanding contact with him and explicit images of him and threatening to publish sexually explicit images if he did not comply.

On the day of his arrest in February last year, it was also discovered that Bendann had several files containing child pornography on his devices.

After a three-day trial, a federal court jury found Bendann guilty of five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor for the production of child pornography, one count of cyberstalking, and two counts of possession of child pornography.

When sentenced in January, Bendann faces a prison sentence of at least 15 years and a maximum of 30 years for each count of sexual exploitation of a child for the production of child pornography.

He also faces ten years in prison for possession of child pornography and up to five years for cyberstalking.
