Police arrest suspect in sexual assault at Juanita Beach Park

KIRKLAND, Washington — Police responded to a sexual assault in progress at Juanita Beach Park on Wednesday and arrested the male suspect.

The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. after a witness called 911, according to Kirkland police. Police arrived and found both the female victim and the male suspect, police said. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated by medical personnel, police added.

The suspect was arrested and booked into the King County Jail on second-degree rape charges, police said.

“Sexual harassment is a serious and unacceptable crime that profoundly impacts individuals and communities,” the KPD wrote online. “The Kirkland Police Department would like to recognize the quick actions of the witness who called 911 and who contributed to the police arrest.”
